Her name is Maureen McCormick.

And as of 2023, she’s still alive.

As to why she did not become a movie star:

She really isn’t a very good actor - Seriously. McCormick was in the middle of the pack as far as her most famous role (One of the six Brady children) and that wasn’t good enough when it came to transitioning from a child actor into an adult one. She went through years of substance abuse issues - McCormick has been quite open about her abuse issues and how they seriously damaged her career. Basically with the exception of reprising her Brady role, no one was interested in working with her for many years. McCormick has experienced serious issues with mental health - Several suicide attempts and years of mental health issues (likely exacerbated by her self-medication with drugs and alcohol) made it difficult for interested parties to cast her in roles. Although she’s apparently overcome those problems as well, that was decades after doing so would have helped her career. She’s surprisingly bland as a performer - McCormick’s charisma was never her strong suit and most of her popularity was due to her appearance. While that was a seller in her teens, as she aged, it became less of one. Watching her in interviews can be painful and she’s never taken the time to develop her personality in manners that might have transformed her into a talk show host or pitchperson if she didn’t want to be an actor in higher budget roles. She was stereotyped in her Brady role - Unfortunately McCormick didn’t change her appearance when the original Brady series was cancelled and she was always identified by her character on the series. Oddly even now decades later, she still appears to look like an older version of her 1970s television character. If her “plan” was to change people’s perception of her, she’s failed at that quite miserably. Maureen McCormick seems to have squandered her chances to become a performer with greater levels of success decades ago for the above reasons and more. While it’s unlikely that she was ever going to be a “movie star” she certainly could have become a known performer on North American television. Unfortunately for her that never happened and now she’s the subject of “Whatever happen to…?” style questions.
